My name is Cristina and in the creative workshop Gira e Rifrulla, I make mainly crepe paper flowers.

I love paper and I love to create. So I also occasionally make artistic "forays" here and there.

For the past 20 years, I have been an architect while simultaneously trying to indulge my artistic passions: mainly restyling furniture and home accessories, making decorative paper mache objects, paper decorations, and arrangements.

Over time, then, the paper took over everything else and I became completely bewitched by the charm of crepe paper flowers.
So I began to study, even following great artists like Tiffanie Turner and Jessie Chui, experimenting with various techniques, dissecting flowers, trying and trying again. Each flower is a world unto itself, and I was just beginning to learn!
Finally, the pandemic, which shuffled the cards a bit for everyone, gave me the opportunity to call it quits as an architect and turn my creative hobby into a real business:
"Gira e Rifrulla di Cristina Catanese" is now a craft business.

I also work on commission and when I see the joy, the satisfaction in the eyes of those who "adopt" my creatures, I understand that by making your wishes come true, I am also making mine come true.

Mi chiamo Cristina e nell'officina creativa Gira e Rifrulla realizzo prevalentemente fiori di carta crespa.

Amo la carta e amo creare. Perciò ogni tanto faccio anche delle "incursioni" artistiche qua e là.

Negli ultimi 20 anni ho fatto l'architetto, cercando contemporaneamente di assecondare le mie passioni artistiche: soprattutto restyling di mobili e complementi d'arredo, realizzazione di oggetti decorativi in cartapesta, decorazioni e allestimenti in carta.

Nel corso del tempo, poi, la carta ha preso il sopravvento su tutto il resto e sono rimasta completamente stregata dal fascino dei fiori di carta crespa.
Così ho iniziato a studiare, anche seguendo grandi artiste come Tiffanie Turner e Jessie Chui, sperimentando varie tecniche, dissezionando fiori, provando e riprovando. Ogni fiore è un mondo a sé e io ho appena iniziato ad imparare!
Infine la pandemia, che ha rimescolato le carte un po' per tutti, mi ha dato l'opportunità di chiudere con il lavoro di architetto e trasformare il mio hobby creativo in un'attività vera e propria:
"Gira e Rifrulla di Cristina Catanese" è ora una ditta artigiana.

Lavoro anche su commissione e quando vedo la gioia, la soddisfazione negli occhi di chi "adotta" le mie creature, capisco che realizzando i vostri desideri, io sto realizzando anche il mio.
